Travel Destinations – Sudety Mountains, Poland
Marvelous Sudety Mountains can be found in region of Lower Silesia in south western part of Poland. These beautiful mountains offer a lot of interesting and pleasant attraction to tourists who love mountains. There are two national parks, several health resorts and landscape parks.
Getting to Sudety Mountains is easy via the train, bus or even a car. However, before you decide to visit this beautiful part of Poland, you should know that it spans over large area. So, it is important to choose which parts you want to visit. Trying to rush through the whole mountain range in a week can spoil the whole trip for you. This is so, because this mountain range is divided into more than twenty parts and each of them is worth visiting. You should either set aside more time or pick up only few locations to visit.
Attractions in general
Sudety Mountains region offers great many attractions to satisfy every tourist. Sporting fans can enjoy biking tours, stay at sports and recreation centers and several cultural and attend sport events that take place in this beautiful region. Apart from this, those in favorite of hiking can take some of the trails and visit mountain refuges and enjoy spectacular views there.
Airplane sightseeing tours are also available. For others, the possibility to stay in castle or a palace will be the most thrilling one. There are hotels in many beautiful castles and palaces in Sudety Mountains. Though, most of these hotels can be found in Western Sudety Mountains, for example in Czocha castle, Krobielowice palace, Grodziec castle and many others.
Of course, as in any mountain range, fans of skiing can enjoy a stay in some of many ski areas and complexes.
Most interesting areas to see in Sudety Mountains
Even though most of the mountain range is worth seeing, there are some more spectacular and popular areas in each region.
Sudety Mountains Foreland ? the most interesting area is Mt. Sleza Massif and hills around towns of Strzelin and Niemcza. This area has a rich and interesting history and is a good place for tourists who are physically less fit or for parents with their children. So, it is a must-visit for everybody who loves history and nature.
Western Sudety Mountains ? if you visit this part of Poland, you should not skip Jelenia Gora Valley which is the best starting point to Karkonosze Mountains National Park. Also, those who enjoy hiking, biking, horse riding and even skiing will enjoy this location.
Izerskie Mountains are also a place worth visiting. It is one of the best areas for skiing. It is also the best area of this region for biking during the summer.
Kaczawskie Mountains are also a must-visit for long walks in beautiful nature, hiking, horse riding and cross-country skiing.
Central Sudety Mountains ? the area of Walbrzych is certainly worth visiting with its beautiful architectonical landmarks.
Eastern Sudety Mountains ? Mt. Snieznik Massif is one of the most popular destinations in whole region of Lower Silesia. Though, this area is recommended only to more skilled hikers because of difficult terrain and relatively small number of mountain refuges.
To conclude, Sudety Mountains have a lot to offer to tourists looking for beautiful nature, historical landmarks. It is also a great regions for tougher tourists who prefer sporting in difficult terrain.
