When thought leaders say ‘take control of your life’, they do not literally mean command control. They probably mean demand freedom from your Self first, to get an outside perspective of who you are from the inside.
The control of ‘taking control of our lives’ has become so overpowering the fundamental objective of finding oneself has faded. While you Do need control of your life, it should not be to an extent that distorts you from who you are. It is like staring at an optical illusion, if you focus too much the whole image blurs out, although if you focus just about the right amount the hidden image makes itself appear.
In today’s virtually advanced environment, our very own self identities are owned by Facebook, Google and other websites we subscribe to. It wouldn’t be long before we will demand IP (Intellectual Property) rights and DRMs (digital rights management) on own identities. However, control of virtual life and identity is a matter on a different cloud, what has not yet been driven to earth is the identity of the ‘self’.
In order to gain control of your life, you need to introspect….
To find that ‘hidden image’ which is the ‘True You’
Not what you want yourself to be,
Or your family coaxes you to be,
Or your boss commands you to be,
Or your customers demand you to be.
The first step of finding your identity is homework that only you can undertake, it is something even experienced mentors will not be able to guide you with.
